Hallam University to undertake an independent evaluation of the programme of activities.
The Interim Evaluation report is due to be presented on 10th October 2006

To Promote Good Health
Welcome
to Healthy Living Barnsley. Thank you for visiting our website. Healthy Living
Barnsley is a programme of activities and interventions which aims to address
health inequalities and improve the health of people living in some of the most
disadvantaged areas in Barnsley. Barnsley has some unacceptably wide inequalities
in health. These include:
Y Life expectancy:
lower than national average Y Long term limiting
illness: 4th highest in England Y General Health:
14% of people rate their health as being 'not good', the 2nd highest in England
Y Permanent sickness or disability: 7th highest rate
(age 16 -74)
The Healthy Living Barnsley programme is delivered by 8 community
and voluntary sector organisations, each addressing local health issues, whilst
placing a strong emphasis on community involvement and strong partnerships.

Healthy
Living Barnsley is due to end by December 2007. Healthy Living Barnsley has commissioned
Sheffield Hallam University to undertake an independent evaluation of the programme.
